Nick Ellens, Ph.D
Vice President, Research & Development
Nick leads research and development at Alpheus, integrating device engineering, translational science, and acoustic innovation to drive the evolution of the company’s proprietary Low Intensity Diffuse Ultrasound (LIDU®) platform. He ensures that Alpheus’ technology pipeline remains scientifically rigorous and clinically focused.
Nick brings deep expertise in therapeutic ultrasound and acoustic physics. Before joining Alpheus, he oversaw the ISO/IEC 17025-accredited ultrasound test lab at Acertara Labs and previously held a faculty position at Johns Hopkins University, where his research focused on MR-guided ultrasound for blood–brain barrier delivery. Nick earned his Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto.
He is driven by a long-running dream to translate academic research into tangible treatments that make a difference in patients’ lives.
